Description
A Chinese export teabowl and saucer (Chinese, c. 1795) with a painted armorial deign in blue and gold against a white ground. The teabowl (.1) is decorated on one side with a shield bearing the gilt script initials “WR” and is surrounded by ermine mantling topped by two billing doves. The other side is decorated with a single blue floral sprig. The exterior rim of the teabowl is decorated with a border of blue diamonds. The interior rim is decorated with a band of blue with gold stars above a wavy beadwork border. The interior bottom is decorated with a floral sprig. The saucer is en suite.
