A mezzotint portrait entitled "Christophorus Conradus Schmid J Ctus et Reipubli. Norimbergensis Consiliarius Senior" (German, 1748) engraved by Johann Wilhelm Winter (German, 1696-1765), after a painting by Gabriel Müller (German, 1688-1758). The subject, lawyer Christoph Conrad Schmidt (1669-1746), is depicted at half length, standing and facing forward. He wears a white powdered wig, a large ruffle collar, and a fur and velvet coat over a waistcoat with a chain-link sash. His right hand rests on a ceremonial hat while he points to a stack of papers on the table beside him with his left. His image is contained in a rococo style frame with a shell shaped crest at the top. The crest is inscribed "FELIX SEDVLITA SQVÆPVB / LICA COMMODA / QVÆRIT." The frame rests on a platform base bearing a rococo plaque accented at the top with a coat of arms. The plaque is inscribed with the title. Below the title on the lower left it reads "nat. d. 25. Jul: 1669" and on the lower right it reads "denat. D. 26. Jul: 1746." The whole is displayed against a partially draped book case. Inscribed on the bottom left corner of the image is "G. Müller pinx" and on the right corner "J. W. Windter sc: Nor. 1748." The mezzotint is housed in a black painted wood frame with an interior gilt gesso border.
