An engraved map entitled "A Map of the Colony of Rhode Island: with the adjacent Parts of Connecticut, Massachusetts Bay. & c." (English, 1778) by Thomas Kitchin, Sr. (English, 1718-1784), hydrographer to the King, and published by R. Baldwin. The map depicts the important towns of Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, as well as the northern tip of Long Island. The map’s title and engraver’s name are contained in a Rococo style cartouche along the bottom center. Beneath the image along the bottom edge at center is printed "Printed for R. Baldwin at the Rose Pater Noster Row."
