Description
An engraved lead-glass goblet commemorating the tercentenary of Newport (American designed, made in England, dated 1936) designed by Arthur S. Vernay, Inc. and produced by the Brierley Hill Glassworks, Stourbridge, England. The straight-sided bucket-shape bowl is engraved with the coat-of-arms of R.I. and the counties of Newport, Providence, Portsmouth and Warwick as well as an elevation of the Old Colony House within a wreath amidst suitable inscriptions. The baluster stem on a conical foot is dated 1636 and 1936. The underside is inscribed "Special Fifty Request Edition."
