Description
A FRENCH STYLE WALNUT STOOL (French, late 19th century) from the workshops of Jules Allard and Sons. The square stool has acanthus leaf shaped gilt bronze mounts on the knees of its four cabriole legs. The legs are connected by an x-shaped cross stretcher with a bronze flower head medallion at center. The feet of the stool end in paw shaped sabots. Original to Mr. Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House, the seat of the stool is upholstered in gold Tassinari silk velvet after the original.
