Description
A GRAY PAINTED ROCOCO STYLE CHAISE LOUNGE (French, late 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons with upholstery by Pregaldini of Paris. Part of the original bedroom set for Alva Vanderbilt’s bedroom at Marble House. The elaborate frame is carved with masks, curling acanthus leaves, and shells. The chaise stands on six cabriole legs with grotesque masks on the knees, and hoof shaped feet. The long loose cushion is upholstered in cut-velvet.
