Description
A MODERN REGENCE STYLE GILT BRONZE HALL LANTERN (French, 2005) by the Mathieu Lustrerie Atelier, installed on the second floor of Marble House. The hexagonal shaped lantern is fitted with nine lights with false gas stops, perched on the foliate candle branches are birds shaped out of rock crystal. The design of the lantern is based on a model from the Stair Hall of the Hotel de Ville in Nancy, France.
Based in the village of Gargas, in southeastern France, the Mathiea Lustrerie Atelier has engaged in chandelier restoration projects for the Louvre Museum, the Palace of Versailles, and the Opéra National de Paris among others.
