Description
SIX BRONZE DORE SCONCES (French, late 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons, installed in the Dining Room of Marble House. Based on trophies by the goldsmith Pierre Ladoyreau and sculptor François-Antoine Vassé at Versailles, the back plates of the sconces are decorated with flags, helmets, and spears. The set is composed of two large sconces (.1-.2) fitted with nine lights, and four (.3-.6) smaller sconces fitted with five lights each.
