A SAMSON ORMOLU-MOUNTED PORCELAIN JARDINIERE (French, c. 1890) by Samson & Cie in a Chinoiserie style. The cylindrical bowl has a flared lip and is painted in a famille rose pattern with pink, yellow, gold, green, blue, and red enamels. The outside of the bowl depicts a continuous scene of exotic birds perched on flowering branches. The lower border has a design of fish and floral designs. Two raised foo-dog handles are on either side of the bowl above center. The bowl is supported by an ormolu mount with four legs shaped like curling acanthus leaves. The legs are connected by an x-stretcher with a raised foliate finial.
