Description
A LOUIS XV STYLE TABLE A OUVRAGE (WRITING DESK) (French, c. 1890) composed out of walnut with a removable kidney-shaped top. The desk has two shallow side compartments on the top section, one is empty and the other has a fitted interior. These flank a ratcheted reading stand and leather covered writing surface. The body has as a single front drawer, a side drawer, and a false side drawer. The top section when removed reveals a flat writing surface. The table is supported by four cabriole legs that terminate in ormolu acanthus cast sabots.
