Description
A PAIR OF SHERATON STYLE LATE GEORGE III STYLE POLE SCREENS (English, c. 1890), oblong in shape with mahogany frames. Each has an adjustable bracket supported on a tall stem with a tripod base banded with string marquetry. The screens have panels of embroidery depicting hanging baskets of flowers on a cream silk ground. These pole screens were originally located in the Library of the Van Alen summer cottage, Wakehurst, on Ochre Point Ave.
