Description
A SET OF SIX NAPOLEON III STYLE ORMOLU WALL SCONCES (French, c. 1895) installed in the Great hall of The Breakers, attributed to Vian of Paris and retailed by Archer & Pancoast of New York. Each of the matching sconces has a bold ormolu lyre-shaped back-plate with a design of shells and foliage, and a pendent design of acorns and oak leaves. Five scrolling arms extend from the back-plate. The arms terminate in spirally fluted drip pans below globular frosted glass shades.
