A Louis XVI Style Carved Gilt-wood Four-fold Screen

A LOUIS XVI STYLE CARVED GILT-WOOD FOUR-FOLD SCREEN (French, 19th century) from the workshop of Jules Allard and Sons, Paris. Each panel of the screen has a carved money pattern border and is topped with an arched cartouche shaped foliate cresting above a medallion painted with blue swags of fruiting foliage on a gold ground and framed. The screen panels are upholstered on both sides with gold cut velvet. The lower sections of the panels are carved in relief with a scroll framework, dog heads are carved along the upper corners and a female mask along the top at center, below this are branches of foliage, an oval cabochon painted to simulate colored marble, and floral swags.
