Description
ONE WOODEN SHIP’S WHEEL TROPHY (American, early 20th century) composed of ash and mahogany. The outer rim of the wheel is inscribed "VARGRANT 1941 / VERSATILE 1950 / WEETAMORE 1932-3" and the inner brass center is inscribed "ENTERPRISE 1930 / RAINBOW 1934 / RANGER 1937." Harold S. Vanderbilt used this wheel as skipper on three America’s Cup defenders, the Enterprise, Rainbow, and Ranger.
