Description
A PAIR OF PATINATED BRONZE COMMEMORATIVE MEDALS (American, 1930) by L. Ricci, mounted on a mahogany panel. The pair celebrate the victory of the Enterprise during the1930 America’s Cup Races. The bronze medal on the left reads "AMERICA’S CUP RACES OFF NEWPORT MCMXXX 'ENTERPRISE WON FOUR RACES'" around the edge and "ENTERPRISE VERSUS SHAMROCK V" along the bottom at center, it depicts the two J-class yachts under sail. The bronze medal on the right lists the men who financed the building of the Enterprise, it reads "ENTERPRISE SYNDICATE W.W. ALDRICH - VINCENT ASTOR - E.W. CLARK - F.L. CARLISLE - G.F. BAKER Jr. - H.S. VANDERBILT" around the edge, and the crew of the Enterprise "TO VICTORIOUS ENTERPRISE CREW / WINTHROP W. ALDRICH / MANAGING OWNER AND NAVIGATOR/ HAROLD S. VANDERBILT/ CAPTAIN AND HELMSMAN / CHARLES F. HAVERMEYER / ASSISTANT HELMSMAN / C. SHERMAN HOYT / IN CHARGE OF SAILS / W.S. BURGESS / DESIGNER IN CHARGE OF RIGGING" at center.
