Description
A PAIR OF HEPPLEWHITE STYLE MAHOGANY SIDECHAIRS (American,19th century) with open shield backs and oval-shaped eglomise panels with painted gold urns on a blue background. The crest rail of each chair is carved with a foliate and ribbon pattern, and the back splats are carved to resemble drapery. Open serpentine arms connect to curved arm supports carved with a floral motif. The stuffed seats are upholstered with gold silk damask. Each chair is supported by four legs, the front two are tapered and turned with foliate carvings at the top, while the back are plain square legs.
