Description
A HEPPLEWHITE STYLE MAHOGANY ARMCHAIR (American, 20th century) with a pierced shield back and open serpentine shaped arms above curved arm supports. The stuffed serpentine front seat is upholstered with a needlework design of an exotic bird perched in a tree in hues of blue, green, pink, orange, yellow, and brown. The needlepoint was done by Mrs. McBean’s maid and a similar pattern can be found on PSNC.8577, PSNC.8580, and PSNC.8583.1-.4. The chair stands on four square legs, the front two of which are tapered.
