Description
A DARK FRUITWOOD CANE PANEL ARMCHAIR (French, 20th century) in the Louis XVI style. The frame of the caned barrel-backed chair is carved with decorative geometric and leaf designs, the carved arms end in scrolled hand grips, and it stands on four turned and fluted legs. The seat back is upholstered in a cream cotton fabric with blue trim and buttons, the swelled seat is upholstered with a needlework design of an exotic bird perched in a tree in hues of blue, green, pink, orange, yellow, and brown. The needlepoint was done by Mrs. McBean’s maid and a similar pattern can be found on PSNC.8578, PSNC.8580, and PSNC.8583.1-.4.
