Description
ONE TALL CASE CLOCK (American, 19th century) constructed out of mahogany with decorative satinwood inlay. The clock face is held in an arched hood with two fluted columns on either side and topped with two brass urn-shaped finials. A glass door protects the clock face which has a small spray of flowers painted on each corner, a painted moon face dial, the hours marked with Roman numerals, a second hand dial with standard/Arabic numerals, and a date dial with standard/Arabic numerals. The body of the clock case has two fluted pilasters on either side of the central door. The door has an arched shaped top, and is decorated with string satinwood inlay around the edge of the door and two quarter-round patterns of inlay in the bottom corners. The base has a square outline of string inlay and quarter-round patterns of inlay at each corner.
