Description
A RHODE ISLAND MAHOGANY SECRETARY (American, 1760-1780, Newport, Rhode Island), the two panel doors of the upper section open to reveal three levels of compartmented shelves, the mid section has a drop front writing surface which opens to reveal small drawers, pigeonholes, and a central compartment decorated with a seven lobe carved shell design, the lower section has four graduated drawers. The flat bail brasses are Chippendale in design.
