Description
ONE BLUE AND WHITE ROCOCO REVIVAL MANTEL CLOCK (19th century) with clock works by Howell James & Co., London. The white enamel clock dial is painted with floral swags, roman numerals for the hours, the minutes in increments of five, signed "Howell James & Co./To the Queen/London", fitted with two brass hands, and covered by a beveled glass face. The porcelain case is topped with the figure of a painted winged cherub reaching out to a white dove. Molded flowers surround the clock casing, and below this are two panels of lattice /basket weave decoration. The reverse is painted with flowers and a dragonfly in blue, a beveled glass door opens to reveal the interior brass works.
