Description
A pair of sterling silver sauceboats (English, 18th century) attributed to William Cripps, London. The bodies are decorated with scalloped groves alternating with floral garlands, a beaded edge around the opening, a scroll handle, and stand on three foliate legs with hoofed feet. The King family crest of a lion sitting on a crown and the words "Face Et Spera" ("Do and Hope)" can be seen under the lip of the sauceboats. They are stamped "WC" on the underside followed by several British silver hallmarks.
