Description
PAIR OF STERLING SILVER WINE COOLERS (English, 19th century) by Benjamin Smith, London with a flared and ruffled base and upper lip. There is an applied silver panel with the King family crest of a lion sitting on a crown and the words "Face Et Spera (Do and Hope)" above the initials "DK" (for David King) at center on both sides. This panel is missing from one side of PSNC.6361.1a-b, revealing the initials "JB" underneath. Each has two shaped handles with grapes and vines and leaves welded on the bases. The silver inner liners lift out. Each is stamped on the side with the Benjamin Smith maker’s mark followed by British silver hallmarks.
