Description
The Pioneer Road Coach (American, 1898) built by Brewster & Co., NY, for The Coaching Club in 1898. Considered one of the finest road coaches ever built from the standpoint of proportion, engineering and craftsmanship, Pioneer was used by the New York-based club members for "staged drives." Pioneer is design #4126a-Serial #20690 was completed April 9, 1898 at the cost of $2400. The coach has black upper quarter panels, white body and boot panels, vermilion toe board and undercarriage, and black "Mansfield style" striping. The color combination, carried throughout some of the accessories, is "Mansfield style" named for Burton Mansfield.
