Description
A PRIVATE OMNIBUS CARRIAGE (French, c. 1890) by Million, Guiet & Co. of Paris. It is painted in Vanderbilt livery with the monogram "CV" printed on either side. The passenger compartment has two longitudinal seats for 2-3 persons and is upholstered in buttoned Melton cloth and lined with matching material. The omnibus is fitted with sliding glass windows and roller blinds. The compartment is surmounted by a railed luggage rack with a leather covered seat at front, with Bedford cord and leather cushions. Large coach lamps are mounted on either side of the coachman’s seat and a hand break is mounted on the left. The frame rests on semi-elliptical springs and has rubber-tired wheels with metal hubs and a single shaft for two horses.
