Description
Lot of Luggage consisting of: (.1) A black leather suitcase with a leather handle and brass closures/locks. Printed on the side of the suitcase is "Brayton./Fall River,/Mass., U.S.A." The interior compartment of the suitcase is lined with cloth and has several pouch pockets. Adhered with string to the handle is a paper label reading "Miss Alice Brayton/From/Colony Club/564 Park Avenue New York."
(.2) A tan cloth covered train case with black leather trim produced by W.W. Winship of Boston. The front of the case is monogrammed "A.H.B." (for Alice Brayton) in gold at center. The hinged lid is secured with brass hardware and has a leather handle, beneath the handle at center is the W. W. Winship logo of a sailboat. Still adhered to the exterior of this well traveled case are several luggage stickers. The interior of the case is lined with cloth and has several pouch compartments.
(.3) A square black fabric case with a leather handle and embossed label with the initials "AB" (for Alice Brayton).Still adhered to the top of the case is a luggage sticker from the Excelsior Hotel in Naples, Italy. The label bears the image of Mount Vesuvius erupting.
(.4) A Delman's cardboard shoe box. It is decorated with a printed green gingham pattern and black trim, printed on the lid of the box is "The best shoes you can buy are the best buy/Delman Hand Made Shoes." An American company, Delman shoes have been worn by such iconic women as Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, Marlene Dietrich and Ava Gardner.
(.5) A Red Cross Shoes shoe box. The box is decorated with a concentric rectangle design on the lid and is printed with the manufacturer name "Red Cross Shoes" The side of the box reads "Red Cross Shoes/6018-532 Double Duty White Smooth 73a/This product has no connection whatever with The American National Red Cross."
(.6-.7) Two tan glazed cloth and leather suitcases attributed to Hartmann. Each is secured at the top with metal lock plates. The compartmented interiors are lined with maroon moiré satin. The face of each is embossed with the gold monogram "AB" (for Alice Brayton).
