Description
AN AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY, PINE AND POPLAR SERVING TABLE (Newport, c. 1780) attributed to John Townsend (1732-1809). The table has a rectangular top with a thumb molded edge above a conforming case containing three small consecutive drawers, each with a contemporary brass handle and willow mount. The whole table is supported on four straight square legs, each accented on three sides with stop fluting.
