AN OIL ON CANVAS PAINTING ENTITLED "FALLS" OF LAWTON'S VALLEY, PORTSMOUTH, RI (American, mid-19th century). The scene depicts a seated woman and standing man in the wooded foreground. The latter either reading or sketching at the edge of a pond created by the falls in the middle ground. The piece is unsigned.
