Description
AN EBONIZED WALL BRACKET (English, c. 1880), in the English Aesthetic style, attributed to Gillow & Co., England. The bracket is composed of ebonized wood with gilt accents and two semi-circular shelves with spindle rails, the lower gallery is inverted. It has three colored marquetry landscape panels after Japanese wood block prints: one circular panel at the crest with a butterfly and foliage, a similar decorated panel at the base, and a central rectangular panel with a crane is a marsh setting set amidst mirrored compartments.
