Description
A Tourinai Renaissance tapestry of "The Last Judgement" (Flemish, c. 1510). The foreground depicts ladies and gentlemen in court dress. The left side depicts an exterior scene with two gentlemen. One of the gentlemen is labeled with an inscription in white gothic script 'l'homme mortel'. A tall bearded gentleman with a red ermine cape bears the inscription 'Deus' in white gothic script, and below him are two men. The right side depicts an interior scene that is crowded with several men and women. The white floor tiles bear flowerheads and red salamanders, the symbol of Francois I. The whole is surrounded by a floral and fruit vine border.
