Description
GILTWOOD FRAMED ENGRAVING (American, 19th century) of the David King House, Newport, RI. The house was built in 1837 for South Carolina planter, Hugh Swinton Ball of Charleston and his wife, Elizabeth Channing. Purchased by Dr. David King in 1838, following the death of the Balls in the wreck of the steamship Pulaski, en route to Newport. The Ball-King house is encased in the present Muenchinger-King Building.
