Description
A SET OF CARVED WALNUT CHAIRS WITH MATCHING LEATHER HASSOCKS (Italian, 1873-1876) by Luigi Frullini (Italian, 1839-1897) in the Renaissance style. The suite is comprised of twenty pieces:
.1-.2 - Armchairs with ornate carved winged gargoyle crest rails, scroll arms and animal terminals that continue to the legs. The front legs have medallions on the knees and terminate in cloven hoof feet.
.3-.12 - Side chairs with winged gargoyle crest rails, the front cabriole legs have ornately carved winged creatures at the knees and terminate in cloven hoof feet.
.13-.20 - Hassocks upholstered in leather decorated with birds and flowers on a gold ground.
