Description
A Chippendale revival four poster mahogany double bed (American, c. 1870) made for the Morris family of New York. It features a scroll-topped headboard and footboard, the latter carved on the exterior with a Morris family coat of arms flanked by foliate scrollwork. The base is supported by four claw feet on castors, and the four fluted column posts are carved with acanthus leaves, flutes, and ovals, each surmounted by a gilt pineapple.
