Description
A SET OF SIX NEW YORK CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY SIDE CHAIRS (American, circa 1760). The chairs have pierced splats, front cabriole legs with squared outlines and claw and ball feet. The back legs are square, splayed and plain. The chairs also have cupid's bow crest rails with plain parchment scroll "ears," gadrooned seat rails and contemporary needlework wool slip seats: .1-.4 of polychrome flowering vine and butterflies on cream ground; .5-.6 of cream ground with overall blue lattice having central diamond form of polychrome floral sprays surrounding center butterfly.
