Description
A PAIR OF AMERICAN HEPPLEWHITE SIDE CHAIRS (American, Providence or Hartford, circa 1780-1810). The chairs have open shield-shaped backs with scrolling, pierced splats accented near the top with two florettes centering a fluted urn. The over-the-rail upholstered seat is raised on four tapering legs joined by H-shaped stretchers, together with a single rear stretcher. The upholstery is of green moire harateen, accented with swags of brass upholstery tacks.
