Description
A pair of mahogany American Chippendale Side Chairs in style of Townsend-Goddard (American, 19th century). The shaped crest rails are accented at the center by a fan-shaped carving, and incised with cross hatching above an open back. The pierced and scrolled splat is decorated with beading, and the slip seats are covered in black fabric and raised on four square legs. The straight front legs have stop fluting on two sides, and the back legs are splayed at the bottom. Chair has H-shaped stretchers, and each with a single rear stretcher.
