Description
A sewing kit issued by the United States Navy; most likely belonged to Alfred Bryan. The trifold kit is made of a navy blue twill fabric, and has an anchor with the letters "USN" printed on its front. Closes with two navy blue twill ties. On inside, a paper window with an "IDENTIFICATION CARD" (not filled out) can be found at right. At left is a pocket containing two cards of black, white, and navy blue thread (referred to as "regulation" thread on the cards, Made in USA; 2009.31.13 B,C). A safety pin holding three white buttons and three black buttons is pinned to the pocket; two needles with black thread can also be found on the outside of the pocket.
