A photograph of a group gathered outside the Newport County Jail House, c. 1885. A photographer and several men stand on a brick sidewalk in front of the jail house, and face two women on horseback in the street. A police officer and two boys look on from the left. The jail house itself is covered in vines, and is bordered by a small lawn, a picket fence, and a boarded fence.
