Description
A black and white photograph depiciting northern Thames Street, c. 1965. Commercial buildings are seen lining both sides of the street. On the eastern (left)side, businesses include Singer Sewing Center, Florsheim Shoes, the Music Box, Herman Mines Shoes, Stride Rite Shoes, HFC Loans, and Ben's Furniture. On the western (right) side, businesses include Lenny's and Sam's Locker Club. Groups are seen walking along the sidewalk; two men can be seen in military uniforms. Cars line the cobblestone street. Within approximately ten years, the western section of Thames Street pictured in the photograph was demolished to make way for the Brick Market redevelopment project.
