A black and white photograph depicting the construction of the Sheraton-Islander Hotel, c. 1970. Subsequent to demolition of most remaining naval facility buildings, the Sheraton was built on fill at the northern end of Goat Island. The early exterior form of the building is shown, including steel beams, brick walls with spaces for windows, and a sloping roofline.
