Photograph that is part of black and white photo essay depicting the restoration of the Chinese Tea House at Marble House. The essay is entitled "Newport's Chinese Tea House: Before and after-a story of neglect and restoration." This photograph, first in the series, depicts the building before its relocation. The Tea House was built for Alva Vanderbilt Belmont in 1913; at the time the photograph was taken, it sat on the edge of the Cliff Walk. Features of the building include a tiled pagoda roof, dragon statuary, columns, and inticately framed windows and doors. A Cliff Walk tunnel can be seen under the building at left.
