A black and white photograph depicting the Cove (or "the Basin") near the Point neighborhood. Several clapboard buildings are seen bordering the waterfront; most have wooden fencing at their rear edge. The buildings to the right are located on Marlborough Street; the buildings directly facing the viewer are located behind Thames Street. The steeple of North Baptist Church is visible at left (background). The photograph was taken before this area was completely filled in (by 1893, see atlas).
