A black and white photograph of three women, a man, and a child on steps leading to an entrance to The Chalet (1866-67). The Chalet is a Swiss-style house located on Halidon Avenue in Newport, RI. The photograph depicts stairs bordered by carved handrails and posts. The subjects pose in the center; only two look directly towards the camera. Potted hydrangeas sit to the right and left of the railings. The print is signed "Hugh L. Willoughby."
